Daniel Kahneman

Daniel Kahneman wrote one of the best books ever written on thinking, Thinking Fast and Slow . The book's main thesis is a differentiation between two modes of  thought : "System 1" is fast,  instinctive  and  emotional ; "System 2" is slower, more  deliberative , and more  logical . He won Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences in 2002. He devoted all his life to research on how people make decisions. And then in March 2024 at the age of 90 he committed assisted suicide in Switzerland. It was publicly announced in Spring 2025. He was healthy, although old.  I must admit it is rather strange, although his friends claim it is consistent with his research. In logotherapy we believe that a person can find meaning at the last breath so suicide is never an option. Thank You for great book Mr Kahneman!

Dad's Girls

As You already know my Dad loved sunflowers. He admired them for their wisdom to follow Sun and stand together. And he adored my niece, my sister and myself, his girls. This beautiful picture reminded me of his unconditional love for us.  And for sunflowers.

Žižek about N. Bohr

On ideology and superstition. These profoundly deep thoughts of Žižek said in such a funny way are the best medicine. I can not remember when I laughed this much. Slavoj Žižek on Niels Bohr | Zizek on #ideology and #superstition Picture from:  Pin page

Ataraxia

Ataraxy:   a state of serene calmness. "To get up in the morning, wash and then wait for some unforeseen variety of dread or depression. I would give the whole universe and all of Shakespeare for a grain of ataraxy." From: "The Trouble of Being Born", E. Cioran Photo: Vojvodina, My Flat Land, SM.ART, November 2024

The Trouble with Being Born

The title of this post is actually the title of the book  printed in 1973 written by  Emil Mihai Cioran  ( 8 April 1911 – 20 June 1995), a  Romanian  philosopher,  aphorist  and essayist, who published works in both Romanian and French. The tile is indeed very promising; Chioran is a world famous hihilist and philosophical pessimism . Here is one quote from the book, it is promising, indeed! “It is not worth the bother of killing yourself, since you always kill yourself too late.” ―  Emil Cioran,  The Trouble With Being Born There is another book with great title from Cioran " The Temptation to Exist "!
